When the Red Wing Shoe Company first started making boots, people still rode horses to work. Much has changed. Today their boots are found around the globe. For over ninety five years, they have held a solid commitment to four basic principles: Quality, Craftsmanship, Durability and Comfort.
I love my black cherry Beckmans. They partial tread is great for when you leave the pavement, or when inclement weather hits. The color of the black cherry is truly phenomenal, and is definitely the color to go with on the Beckmans, imho (aside from maybe the chestnut, which was a nice light brown that they discontinued a couple years ago). Black cherry works with just about anything (chinos, jeans, etc) and just about any color (aside from burgundy). These are some of my most worn boots, and I own a lot of boots. Truly a great boot. The only potential drawback is that there is basically no shape/support to the footbed, but you eventually create your own heel/toe indentations, and too much of a footbed makes you lose all the muscle in your foot, so that's no good either. If that bothers you, just add a footbed insert (and potentially size up 1/2 size from what would fit if you had no footbed if you're in between sizes).I'd say these fit 1/4-1/2 size smaller than sneakers. I tend to be somewhere between a 9 and 9.5 in most shoes, but the 9 was what fit best. I'm a 8.5 in the Iron Rangers, so the fit on these seems to be a bit different, but both fit wonderfully once I had my size dialed in. I actually have a set of footbeds in my black cherry beckmans (size 9) and decided to go w/o footbeds in my chestnut beckmans, but size 9 seemed to fit right both ways. If it helps, I'm an 8.5 in CDBs.Buy this boot.
