These jeans are cut nicely, slim but not painted-on skinny, the denim is a great weight, light but strongand the stretch is so slight that I think it's perfect...just enough for comfort, but little enough that they don't even give an inkling of that pre-teeny stretch-jean look. It's a tasteful but stylish cut and cloth. But they are made for TALL people, even more so than other pricey jeans I've had (citizens, seven, joe's). BUT since they are not so stretchy, the cut isn't as forgiving if your parts don't line up with the jeans. I am 5'0", and where the knee falls is only 4" above my ankle. Length can be altered easily, but the bigger problem is that they have a bit of a contour in at the knee for a natural look...but my knees hit well into the "thigh" of the jean. So anyway on me, they look unflatteringly baggy around my knees. Maybe they would fit better if I were still wearing a size 24 instead of needing a 27, though...It could be that the smaller sizes of this brand are smaller scale in length, too...plus if you were less curvy, the contour might be less obvious. At my height, I expect to get pants tailored if i want them to fit right, but I feel like the Harlan, (in 27 at least), is made for someone who is 7 feet tall!
fit wise the taper at the ankle but a loose from the knee down otherwisewhich makes them more comfortable than my other skinny jeans, but it's a slightly odd look when they bunch starting right below the knee... i like the wash a lot and i sized down one for the perfect fit. due to the wash tapering will get rid of some of the cool details. be aware that there is fake distressing details on the back of where the designer thought knees should be, so if yer too tall or too short for these jeans they'll be oddly placed. i have 33'' inseam and proportional body and the pants fit well.
