I was in the market for a basic-ass black dress but something somewhat current and not too basic because basic tends to = boring. Well, I fell in love with the silhouette of this dress and when it arrived in the mail it did not disappoint. The material is light enough to withstand the SoCal summer heat even with the extra lining underneath in black of all colors, no less. I can definitely see it becoming a warm weather staple in my closet, possibly for other weather situations as well. The shape is perfect for hiding food babies and the extended hem along the back really adds interest to this piece and makes it especially unique. I will, however, have to say that the hem in the front is super short and I'm 5'2, like borderline Basic Instinct, flash-your-private-parts-extra-risque-short but that's the price you have to pay to show off your upper thighs, I mean gams. Luckily this dress pairs well with pants so you can prevent any indecent exposure which is also an added benefit because while this dress is particularly good for night time festivities, it's equally as good for a casual look. I'm wearing it right now as we speak (or write, whatever) with my distressed skinnies at work on Casual Friday and I don't feel overly dressed like a Corner Bakery Caesar Salad.
