James Perse started out by making the perfect baseball cap; film directors ordered hats for their cast and crew and record labels bought them for tours. In 1994 he launched a t-shirt line that rapidly gained loyal fans looking for a seamless blend of luxe and casual. James personal design philosophy and aesthetic is low maintenance high fashion, emphasizing elegance and comfort, pairing sophistication with simplicity.
I have to admit, in the past when I heard people rave about James Perse tees, I thought they were just getting sucked in by the brand name. But I got this one in white (on sale!), and I now understand the raving. This shirt is so comfortable and extremely flattering (a-line shape so it only skims the belly). My only caveat is that the neckline is a little bit low for me, but I think that is part of what makes it so flattering overall.
