When the Dr. Martens boot first catapulted from a working-class essential to a counter-cultural icon back in the 1960s, the world was pre-internet, pre-MTV, pre-CD, pre-mp3s, pre-mobile phones. Hey, they'd only just invented the teenager. In the years before the boot's birthday, 1st April, 1960, kids just looked like tribute acts to their parents, younger but the same. Rebellion was only just on the agenda for some - for most kids of the day, starved of music, fashion, art and choice, it was not even an option.
I have heard that Dr. Martens are supposed to be some super comfy shoe- these aren't BAD or really cheap, ill fitting shoes. But nothing that I would consider to be over average comfort. I like the way these fit, they aren't tight on my toes. Which is generally my problem when I wear an 8, but they seem a bit loose and roomy for me which I am looking for in most of my shoes because I dislike really tight ones. They can be tricky to get on past the arch if they aren't loosened properly.I've found these also scuff quiet easily, but I don't mind.. because they still look awesome. Although, I would recommend to the packers, if they're going a long way, to put more padding/paper in the big box to keep the shoe box from moving around. I had scratches on my boots before I even took them out of the box. (I'm in Australia)Overall: I am pleased with my purchase and I had been looking for boots like this for a while. I would recommend these to others who like the style and are looking for a versatile, nifty looking boot. :)
