REVOLVEclothing: When did you start writing your blog? Why did you decide to start a blog?
Cherry Blossom Girl: I started my blog on february 2007.Before I started blogging, I was studying fashion, interning at Chloe and Alexander McQueen, and I spent a lot of time drawing and sewing. Starting a blog was especially enticing because it represented a relaxed and down to earth opportunity to talk to other girls about my passion. I didn't spend as much time with it at first because I was already very busy, but I've since discovered that I really like taking pictures and creating thematic photo shoots for showcasing my outfits, so I do it more now.
RC: Do you have any fashion icons or heroes?
CBG: I really love the style of Alexa Chung, Kirsten Dunst, Camille Bidault-Washington and Taylor Tomasi.
RC: Do you look to any specific inspiration when getting your outfits together?
CBG: Movies and photos are a huge source of inspiration for me. I like the young leading ladies from David Hamilton and Sofia Coppola movies, or characters from films such as "Picnic at the Hanging Rocks," "Valerie and her Week of Wonders," "The Piano," "The Young Girls of Rochefort"?a lot of variation between Marie Antoinette, the Victorian era, the '60s, the '70s, and today.
RC: How would you describe your personal style?
CBG: It's pretty romantic. I really like pastels, embroidery, flower prints, and pleats. I mainly wear dresses that are comfortable and feminine. Because I really like mixing vintage clothes that have a history with more contemporary pieces, I tend to think of my style as a melding of the old with the new. I think a vintage blouse paired with jeans is the epitome of elegance.
RC: Where do you find most of your clothes?
CBG: At H&M and Zara like anybody else, but also on eBay for great designer bargains, such as shoes, and also vintage stores in Paris.
RC: Do you have any favorite designers?
CBG: Right now, I'm really into Miu Miu, Lanvin, Charles Anastase, Luella, Chanel...it really depends on the season.
RC: What is your current fashion obsession?
CBG: Chanel pumps with beads, sequined dresses, Miu Miu butterfly bags in pastel colors, motorcycle boots!
RC: What are you up to these days, aside from blogging?
CBG: I design ready to wear women's fashion. I like to travel with my boyfriend, We went to Japan in spring, and went on a road trip threw the USA last summer. I like to take walks around Versailles and the countryside, and ride my bike around Paris. Picnicking in various parks, and taking photographs! Reading my favorite books such as "Froth on the Daydream" by Boris Vian, and "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint Exupery, and listen to my favorite bands : Air, Cat Stevens, and Au Revoir Simone. At the moment I'm really into jazz and Arcade Fire.
