California, here we come! The minute we walked into the presentation room where Clover Canyon had its Spring collection on display, we had an immediate feeling of nostalgia for our past road trips up and down the Golden State. Designer and California native Rozae Nichols took us along for a ride through her romantic, ode-to-California Spring collection, where vast desert landscapes and sparkling floral prints paved the way. We wish we had every piece in our closets right now! But like all things in life, it's about the journey (and what you wear along the way), not the destination.
1. What was your main inspiration behind this collection?
On the road in the American southwest. Celebrating the huge landscape, from the desert and canyons, to roadside motels, and diners, and all the whacky things that you discover along the way. I?ve made many road trips in the southwest, so it?s kind of cultivating all of that into one collection.

2. We're loving all the new prints!
We experimented with some cannabis print with disco balls, to Americana quilts with some more sparkle, to Mexican peso money. It?s all about mixing our new images with historical prints.

3. A must-have piece for Spring?
My favorite piece is the On The Road caftan. It really narrates the entire collection. And I'm really excited about the crystal-embellished pieces. Very Elvis-rockabilly inspired.

Fashion editors and street style bloggers have been known to catapult universal trends when it comes to posing and dressing (i.e: the "Stand with your ankles crossed, with head slightly tilted to the left" pose, and the "Tuck your shirt in your front waistband" styling secret to show off your belt.) So, after gawking over all the stylish ladies running around NYFW, we picked up on the newest trick: the "Wear your jacket as a cape" look.

For Fall, the latest way to wear a jacket is to...not really wear it at all? A light coat or bomber jacket rested ever-so-gently on your shoulder, sans arms in sleeves, is an ingenious way to help transition between seasons. First, it allows for maximum arm candy exposure, and second, it provides double capacity as a layering agent and warming mechanism when it gets cooler in the evenings.

We're loving this new styling trick and will definitely give it a go when the heat leaves us here in LA. But first, we're going to need some new jackets. Take a gander with us through our fresh-for-fall jacket selection. Sleeves optional.
