For their latest collection, Kasil
added a new member to their creative circle: LA-based stylist Taylor Jacobson. Yesterday, the bleach blonde Jacobson headed over to our store on Melrose to talk denim and tell us about her new adventures in design. She even styled a few looks for us!
"I was always pulling Kasil denim for shoots because their cut is really flattering," says Jacobson of her draw to the LA-based denim line. "I met the creative director, David Lim, and we totally hit it off." And coincidentally, Kasil was on the prowl for someone to help take their line to a modern, edgier level. "We put our heads together and introduced the Minx
and the Geek
"I hate to reference jeggings, but the Minx have that feel to them. They're ultra skinny and narrow," she says. "Those are my favorite?and I'm really particular about my skinnies. They have to be extremely tight, fitted at the knee, and with a small ankle opening?and that's the Minx." The skinny arrives in two dark washes, one of which features an industrial-inspired finish. "The Industrial is a super washed denim with a wax coat, but the wax is soft." Which, according to Jacobson, is a rare find. Usually anything with a wax coating is rigid, but here it keeps the denim flexible without losing shape.
"A lot of the trousers out there are really baggy and unflattering," says Jacobson. "The Geek is a baggy trouser, but it's like you took your boyfriends and got them tailored." Right now you can shop the classic cotton pant in army green, black, and teal, but expect the trouser to roll in with more color and even sleek wax finishes. "We're introducing all new washes and details to both the Minx and the Geek next season. And coming up for spring you can also expect shorts and separates in the mix."
