No such thing as a Vogue lunch? The incomparable Alexander Wang recently confessed in an interview, "My first day on the job (at Vogue), I was starving, but I was too scared to ask if it was all right to go have lunch", during his internship at the prestigious Vogue way before he became the powerhouse long-hair-don't-care designer he is today.
Known for his undeniable knack for dressing the Downtown Cool and conjuring up a collection of must-have studded bags and T-shirts, Wang is the prime example of hard work paying off, even when he had to sacrifice a few lunches to get here. We applaud such tenacity and die-hardship and hope that any guy or girl aspiring to squeeze into the fashion industry will take note. Even take it from most of us, we've had that scared-straight experience with a boss or two, as Wang was "too nervous to even walk past Anna Wintour's office"
Of course Wang did end up feeding himself, AND made his way to the top of the Next Balenciaga Designer list. It just took a bit of time. "Even though all of the other interns working next to me went out and picked up lunch, I just kept working. Eventually, though, I started eating lunch."
