NYFW: Nicholas K
For Fall 2012, Nicholas K channeled the urban cowboy with a decidedly downtown edge. Models sporting blunt bobbed wigs and nine-gallon hats stomped down the runway to the atmospheric tunes of electronic music up-and-comer Nicholas Jaar and a beat—tastic remix of Neil Young's classic track "Heart of Gold." Male models donned draped fit pants tucked into socks and layered knits with gun holster-inspired bags that gave an air of a downtown-approved spaghetti western-and in a good way. Leather jackets were rendered in cropped silhouettes and sheriff-style calf-grazing lengths, while an expertly tailored pony hair blazer makes the west look (fashionably) wild again.
