Dittos, the must-have jeans of the 1970s and '80s, are finally back and legions of denim aficionados are scooping up the curve-hugging, high-waisted flares. A pioneer of jeans designed specifically for women's bodies, the Dittos came in a rainbow of colors and sported a signature U-turn saddle stitch down the backside. The tight fit, flared leg and flattering "rear view" inspired a cult following that's lasted over 30 years... though they haven't been produced since the 1980s. Until recently, you could only find Dittos in vintage shops and on eBay.
Lucky for us, sexy jeans genius, Daniella Clark of Frankie B, is relaunching the line. Responsible for perfecting Frankie B's second-skin lowriders, Clarke is bringing back the jeans that inspired her as a teen. "I had them in every color," Clarke told the UK Mirror. As the Los Angeles Times notes, "Clark is no stranger to a sexy pair of pants, and this line seems to be true to her sultry aesthetic, but with a playful and nostalgic twist." And a much higher waistline, totally in tune with the au courant seventies trend.
The flared leg and high-waisted cut flatters curves and looks super-chic with retro platforms, cork wedges, or peep-toed pumps. It's all about height to keep the look long, lean and very leggy. Daily Candy says of the revamped line, "They may be tricky to get into, but once they're on, they fit like a glove. And true to the original: The tighter, the better."
One thing's certain, sport the sexy seventies style of Dittos, and you'll inspire a cadre of copycats. Ditto to that.
