The sun was shining, the ocean crashing at our feet, and the smell of sunscreen and piña coladas wafted over us as we were sitting at Rebecca Taylor's Spring '13 show...or was that just us? Rebecca's New York-meets-Hawaii collection had us all wishing we were at one of her favorite vacation spots, but because we're actually at the end of summer in the middle on Manhattan, we'll just keep dreaming.

We had a nice pre-show chat with the much loved designer about her inspirations for Spring, and we must admit, she inspired us a bit too.

    Read on!

    1. What was your inspiration for your Spring collection?
The inspiration of the Spring collection is having a summer in New York but dreaming of a summer in Hawaii. It's quite urban, it's quite polished, it's modern, but I have interjections of Hawaiian prints, and Hawaiian themes throughout the collection.

    2. Do you have a type of girl in mind when you design?
I like to see what the girls in my office are wearing, I want to make sure that I'm dressing for them. It's just about a modern, urban woman that I am dressing.

    3. What look were you going for when deciding hair and makeup for the show?
I wanted the hair to feel very undone. Very like, she's in a car with the window down . Like she's on a road trip, so the wind's blowing her hair, but the makeup is very natural and muted.

    4. What is one stand-out piece, or must-have from this collection?
I'm really into shorts, and shorts suits. I have a pair of nude silk shorts that I think will go with everything.

    5. How have you evolved as a designer since your beginnings in 2003?
When I started I was really young. When you are young as a designer its hard to focus on what you want and who you are . But when you get older, and more mature and confident about who you are, things get a little easier.

    6. One great styling tip for Spring?
Gosh, in New York it seems like we go straight into summer, don't we? A great trench is always good since we get so much rain.

    7. A fashion Do for Fall?
I'm really liking little pointed ankle boots. If you know where I can get some, that'd be great!

Saturday's theme was complete, one-hundred-percent Bad. Ass. We started off with having coffee with the two lucky winners of our Fashiolista contest, blogger extraordinaire Jessy Mercedes, and the winning voter, Sarah Lewis. They looked unbelievable with the way they styled their pieces gifted from REVOLVE.

A pre-show interview with the Rebecca Taylor followed soon after. The collection was a mix of urbanwear and Hawaiian-wear that only Rebecca can pull off. Then back at the Lincoln Center, the level of sexiness went sky high as a crowd of foxy ladies gathered to the Herve Leger show. Micro-mini bandage dresses and swimsuits strutted down the runway, with what sounded like a Harley Davidson revving its engine within the music. Biker chicks? Totally. Tibi showed a collection of adorable mini flippy skirts, mixed with light blue denim and abstract floral pieces for Spring. Aimee Song of Song of Style was in attendance, looking chic as usual.

Then the pièce de résistance show of the evening went to the always cool Alexander Wang. The guestlist read of a who's who in the fashion world, and the looks took the cut-outs trend to a whole other level. Erin Wasson closed out the show, and to the gasping surprise of the entire audience, Alexander's clothes glowed in the dark.

Day Two of NYFW was a fun mixture of different shows, where we experienced all types of interpretations of what may come next Spring. We kicked off the morning with an exclusive backstage pass to one of Forward's top designers, Tess Giberson, where white was the color of the hour - from the draped, layered silks and netting and lace-up stiletto booties, to the white paint whisked across the models' dewy faces.

Yigal Azrouël presented a subdued and monochrome collection of "nature's architecture"-inspired ready-to-wear today, and although we couldn't completely wrap our heads around the oversized hoods and pilgrim-like dresses, we still enjoyed the ominous, yet calming aura of the show.

Then, the fashion troops marched to Lincoln Center where Rebecca Minkoff had everyone's jaw drop from the plethora of ombré printed floral gear, California-cool layers, athletic-style pieces, and the new array of handbags including our fave, the mini mac (yes, you can get your hands on it here). We snapped a few photos of pieces we LOVED from the show, a.k.a everything...and Ryan Lochte.

We ended the evening with a presentation by Helmut Lang at a studio in Chelsea. As expected, the pieces were fluid yet fierce, the colors were dark yet bright, and we were falling in love with every bit of it.

See you back tomorrow! It's going to be a BIG day, so stay tuned.

Day One of New York Fashion Week was a whirlwind of fabulous shows, packed with fabulous people, especially our favorite fabulous bloggers. The Man Repeller, Bryanboy, Fashion Toast, Late Afternoon, Song of Style, and Keiko Lynn sat front row with us during today's shows, including Nicholas K., BCBG, Richard Chai LOVE, and Kimberly Ovitz.

But, the party didn't stop there. Fashion's Night Out is one of the biggest events of the year and SoHo was all about partying for the occasion. From Theory to Alexander Wang, our favorite brands at REVOLVE definitely threw the best shindigs of the night.

Check out our photo diary of Day 1, and stay tuned for many, many more behind-the-scenes photos from our adventures at NYFW!

Our official New York Fashion Week coverage kicked off early this morning with a breath-of-fresh-air Spring show by Nicholas K. The fashionable elite gathered at the Lincoln Center where the likes of Joe Zee and BryanBoy were all excited to see what the brand has in store for us next season. Full of muted, earthy tones and layers of sheer tops and airy dresses, we couldn't wait to get backstage to interview Nicholas herself to get the inside scoop on the Spring collection.

    1. What was the inspiration behind this collection?
It was from a 1970s film called Soylent Green, and they predicted what New York City was going to be like in 2022. So the collection is sort of like a '70s-futuristic nomad.

    2. Were you inspired by '70s fashion in general as well?
Yes. The oversized glasses, wide leg pants are iconic '70s, but we tried to take it to the next level.

    3. How would you describe the man or woman you design for?
Savvy, intellectual, independent. Smart, and really comfortable with themselves. I don't think clothes should overshadow the natural beauty of a person.

    4. What's a good styling tip to transition from Fall to Spring?
Lots of sweaters and lightweight layers!
