Day two of NYFW was a beautiful blur of black and white, sharp clean lines, and major statement footwear (but not the kind you would think).

I started bright and early at the Mercedes-Benz tents at Lincoln Center. Aussie brand Zimmermann presented a full ready-to-wear collection of retro-inspired swimwear, high-waisted trousers, and whimsical dresses using champagne tones and delicate lace.

Downtown, Jenni Kayne presented ten perfectly-tailored looks of suiting, monochrome, subtle prints, and my fave – origami-like skirts. Her signature pointed-toe flats got a makeover with gold tips and ankle straps, a must-have for spring.

The scene was bustling outside of the rag & bone show. When Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington and the rest of the Vogue entourage enter the building, you know it's serious. A semi-'90s throwback with a sporty twist was presented as the models walked around the runway. Overalls, deep-V tennis sweaters, oversized messenger bags, and lace-up platform wedges were simple, striking, and utterly street chic.

Helmut Lang's signature style is always of the black and white, draped and tailored assortment, and spring's collection definitely did not stray. Channeling a tomboyish silhouette, the looks consisted of crop tops, loose trousers, and boxy dresses and skirts.

More amazing show coverage to come. I'm so excited for day 3!

New York Fashion Week has officially begun; and the excitement in this city is so thick, you can cut it with a 5-inch stiletto. September is my favorite time of year, not only because it's unofficially the January of fashion, but because the spirit in Manhattan is unlike any other. From hopping show to show, and wandering through neighborhood to neighborhood, there is always an opportunity to take both sartorial and scenic shots.

Today, I went to see the sibling designer duo of Nicholas K., who created a mystical collection of futuristic-Indian-inspired layers of effortless, muted tones and raw textures. For spring '14, we'll be seeing floor-length caftans, wide-leg trousers, chunky wedge boots, and dare to go there with feathers in your hair.

The BCBGMAXAZRIA show always churns out an impressive front row. Jamie Chung, Selita Ebanks, Giuliana Rancic, Monica Rose, and the bevy of bloggers were all at the edge of their seat as the models slyly walked the runway. Black, white, and a mixture of floral prints made up the palette for the collection of deconstructed dresses, cropped and sheer tops, and loosely tailored jackets and trousers. We hope our buyers order every single piece.

On top of style stalking the streets, I explored the city a bit and found myself walking down the Highline and ended up downtown at Pier 26 for the Empire of the Sun show. Quoted from EOTS themselves, "loving every minute, 'cause you make me feel so alive." Here's to the next six days, NYC!

New York native and ocean-loving swimwear designer Marysia Reeves dives into the details that inspire her to create bikinis for her eponymous line. Summer may be winding down, but that doesn't mean we can't continue loving these scallop-trimmed two-pieces! Wherever there's water, there's a way.

1. What inspired you to start your eponymous swimwear line?
My first daughter. I wasn't working when she was born, but then I had a sudden urge and push to go and do something she can be proud of one day. I wanted to make a beautiful life for us and to me a life spent in a swimsuit is ideal.

2. Describe the Marysia Swim girl in 3 words:
modern, fun, chic

3. Who do you have in mind when you create your designs?
My It girls like Leandra Madine, Hannah Bronfman, and Gaia Repossi, along with our customers who leave us comments and requests of what they are looking for.

4. How does living in NYC inspire you and your designs?
It's unending inspiration. Sometimes it's hard to tell what, when and where it happened but I'm inspired by the energy, so creating something new is never a problem.

5. Where is your favorite place to wear you bikinis?
I guess my favorite would be a cool resort like Florblanca, Costa RIca. 'm always wearing my own designs to the pool, beach, spa.

6. What was the design process behind your Summer collection?
I wanted to give our girl something with a little more punch with the cobalt blue. I wanted to make the styles simple but strong at the same time. It was all about the modern look.

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I'm there! NYC is ideal for me. I'm working on the beach shack in Montauk and then I'll be set!

8. What are 5 things you must bring to the beach?
My panama hat, beach towel from our family's beach club, La- Roche Posay sunscreen, and Oliver Peoples sunglasses – all in the Marysia SwIm beach tote.
