Battle of the Bags: How Big Is Too Big?
When it comes to my everyday bag, I'm usually a sucker for a big, hefty haul that holds everything from wallets, phones and keys to notepads, computer cords, and an occasional magazine. I used to say, "the bigger, the better" but lately I'm learning the importance of restraint... and it's a smart move, according to the NY Times.

According to the Times, the trend of oversized bags is wreaking havoc on the backs of the women who carry them. They write, "In the last few years, bags have become ever more voluminous, and as women have fallen sway to their chunky charms, they have filled them up with necessities. These days many women are as burdened as mail carriers. As a result, reports of shoulder soreness and stiff necks are on the rise and doctors, massage therapists and chiropractors are tailoring treatments for the bag-obsessed."

Is it time to downsize? Well, if you can't give up the beloved big bag in favor of a
petite pochette, try these remedies. For shoulder pain, soreness and headaches, doctors suggest regular massages, baths with Epsom salts and gentle stretching. Clean out purses once a week and evenly distribute the weight among all pockets to avoid the cultivation of uneven shoulders (yikes!).
