According to Tuso, the mix matching we see on Marni's runway is a balanced combination of vintage-inspired textiles and colors with a nod to modern patterns and silhouettes. To achieve this, experiment with layers of different shades, prints, and time periods. "Polka dots, gingham, and plaid are definitely period related," explains Tuso,"But when mixed together with current silhouettes or fresh colors they get a modern twist." Combine argyle and stripes with a bold-colored belt or try something floral with a polka dot cardigan and knee socks for a creative and quirky look. Tuso also recommends playing with accessories and shoes that can contribute to the colorful hodgepodge. "Mixing a combination of prints and textiles that might not go together in an otherwise obvious way shows great personal style," adds Tuso. "It shows that some thought went into the outfit."
