In general, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase. They are a beautiful looking set of boots and great for my long days of walking through NYC. The sheepskin lining is incredibly soft and keeps my feet nice and toasty. I do have a few gripes, however. First, they do seem to come with factory applied waterproofing, which is normally a good though, however the waterproofing isn't consistent - strong on the toe and heel, but weak elsewhere. This is a problem because you can't really waterproof them until the factory waterproofing wears off since it would give it an uneven coloration. I made the mistake of wearing them out without waterproofing in our recent 'blizzard', which ended up soaking the boots full of dirty, salty water. So, I would recommend that you keep em away from water until you can put on waterproofer. Secondly, there is a seam inside near the heal that is protrudes a bit which chafes my foot. It actually created a dime-sized blister after walking around in the boots about a mile or so. Strangely, this is only a problem on my right foot. I put a piece of tape over the seam and this seems to help. Despite these issues, I'm still happy I bought these. As far as sizing, the 10.5 pair fit better than the 11s (for reference purposes, I wear 11 in most tennis shoes - puma, adidas, asics).

I wouldn't normally write a review, but after buying these i'd just like to reassure people that what's been written here is not necessarily the truth- my montgomery boots are quite sturdy and have yet to break randomly, and as for the question of 'plastic coating' and waterproofing, i don't know what the hell this person is thinking, because these boots soak up the boot-oil and conditioners quite well, and i can honestly say mine are now proudly waterproof. plastic? :Pin short, these are the quality boots they are advertised as- they're not the 1000 mile, and not quite in the same league as Red Wing heritage, but they're still a nice, solid boot. nothing too fancy, construction-wise- rubber sole, stacked leather heel, leather is nice but on the thin side. they're very comfortable tho, with the lining meaning no break-in time, and they're reasonably dressy, too, so they have these advantages over other premium workwear boots, if not quite at the same high standard of construction. still better than a lot of similar styles in this price-range.size as you would Red Wing, i.e. drop 1/2.

Bought these from the Tannery in Cambridge, MA. Beautiful looking, very comfortable, and was told by the salesperson that they are not waterproof but can be coated to make them water resistant. Turns out she didn't know what she was talking about. Not only are they not waterproof or water resistant, they come with a coating on them to make the leather look "painted on," which while cool looking actually PREVENTS them from being in any way waterproofed. Go ahead, try. Anything you try to spray or rub onto the boots either rolls right off or ruins the leather. Oh, and getting them wet ruins the leather. So they're basically a witch. If you have enough disposable income to own boots that can't get water on them, more power to you. Otherwise, this is kind of a stupid purchase.

Purchased a pair of the montgomery in black from luther's in austin and am really pleased. I was told by the salesperson that this particular model was running a half size big and she was right-on. Felt like they were broke in from the minute i put them on. purchased to use with my harley riding beacuse of the sole and high top. already having friends ask where i purchased them. the workmanship is outstanding...especially the insole. would definetly recommend to anyone for any use. going back for a brown pair.

Wow, i ordered mine online because that's the only way to get them where I'm from. Anyways, the first time I even tried them on the pull tab in the back broke. What can I say? They look great/feel great, but they couldn't even last the initial application to my foot. Expensive garbage.
