Update: After trying this in the house intermittently for a couple of days, the leather has quickly softened to the extent that it is becoming too loose for me. My heel is starting to slip mid way up the shaft of the boot. Much as it will cost me a bomb, I'm sending this back - disappointed. From this experience I'll say if you are between sizes, size DOWN to allow for leather softening.
I don't get a chance to try this on before buying and have to be careful that I pick the correct size by checking reviews from multiple sites. The wrong size would be costly for me in return shipment. I'm usually a 7 in pumps/flats and 7.5 in trainers and opted 7.5 for this. It was the right call! This model runs somewhat narrow on the toe box so the 1/2 size up gives just enough wiggle room for the needed comfort. The length is perfect with just about 1/2 finger allowance at the heel for socks/movement. Size 7 would have been too compressed at the toe section. The heels do slip a little but I read from other reviews that this is to be expected from new Frye and should subside with wear. I can find lots of wear in this as it goes very well with shorts/leggings/skirts (but not skinny jeans, in my opinion, due to the low shaft). Hope this helps.
Some Curves/Average Height
This is my third pair of Frye's and I was lucky enough to have one of my friend's recommend sizing up in this specific style, as it runs narrow (however, I also have wider feet). I usually get an 8.5 in flat Frye boots and a 9 in those with heels. I got the 9 in the Veronica Shortie and it is perfect, especially since I plan to wear thicker socks as winter comes around. Everyone adores this boot (even my bf, who could care less about style). The quality is as expeected from Frye - flawless. I watched these for a while and finally made the purchase, glad I did!
