Jay, New York (Average/Average Height)

- Look/style - the look and style of the jacket are the primary reasons I am going to keep this jacket - the jacket zipper fell apart the second I tried the jacket on - I hadn't even touched the zipper yet - and I learned that a ziper (the part you pull up) is composed of 3 parts - 2 of them fell off immediately and they do not "snap" back into place.- From what I have seen of the jacket's construction - loose threads, a kind of "fraying" of the fabric, a metal snap that appears to worn/left it's mark on the fabric, and snaps that hold together perhaps a bit too firmly given the (what appears to me) the fragility of the jacket's fabric - this jacket is for light wearing - I will jump of out of it before I sneeze or cough.- Fit of the item - ok. It is, as sometimes described "short," but is still comfortable (though it lacks that heavenly feeling of other really nicely constructed jackets that I own. One problem with the fit is the "fishtail" at the back bottom of the jacket - I have a slim build, and yet the jacket's fish tail separates (even though it has a buttoned inner layer to keep it together) - it looks somewhat sloppy - I will take it to a tailor and have it sewn together.Also:- the epaulettes on the shoulders are both too long (done purposely?) and sit on the jacket shoulders like two ovals. I will have a tailor shorten them.- I mention again the "sloppy" stiching. There are a number of loose threads at various locations in the jacket (notably where the stitching ends at the pockets) as well as some areas were there are lose threads/fabric at the button holes for the top pockets.I had a look at the stiching on a similar jacket (a nylon Lee jacket of similar design) and I did see better quality stitching - it looked reinforced and "neat" - symetrical, and no lose threads. I also had a look at an H&M jacket (similar design but cotton) and I saw only 1 loose thread on one of four button holes on the jacket.- No compliments on the jacket as I have not yet worn it.- Would I recommend to a friend? Unfortunately not. I think that the design of the jacket is fantastic, but the zipper falling apart and the stitching of the jacket is (compared to other jackets I own and examined) not what I would expect for a $220 jacket. In fairness I will not that sloppy sections of stitching will not be visible to someone who sees you wearing the jacket on the street, but it makes me concerned about how long the jacket will last.If the jacket cost were $50 to $75, I would recommend to friends (assuming no similar problems with the zipper). But, because it was the last one I could find in this color and size (brown, xl), I will keep, have altered/repaired, and try to enjoy.Great design, Scotch & Soda! But it appears to me that your vendors overseas dropped the ball...
